Savage Lands - The Last Howl (Official Video)
La amenaza de deforestación de las selvas tropicales de Costa Rica inspiró a metaleros a unirse para proteger el ecosistema.
En 2022, el baterista de Megadeth Dirk Verbeuren y el músico-activista Sylvain Demercastel fundaron la organización sin fines de lucro SAVAGE LANDS (501(c)). Desde entonces, sus esfuerzos ya han salvado 100 000 pies cuadrados de bosque, y todos los ingresos del álbum debut «Army of the Trees» se destinan a plantar árboles, crear reservas y «zonas verdes». En colaboración con el Instituto Jane Goodall y líderes de la escena metalera, el proyecto demuestra que la música pesada puede cambiar el mundo.
El álbum «Army of the Trees» reúne a estrellas del metal en un ecosistema de sonido intransigente. En el tema «The Last Howl», la voz de John Tardy (Obituary) se entrelaza con los solos virtuosos de Andreas Kisser (Sepultura). Kai Uwe Faust (Heilung) llena «Black Rock Heart» con un espíritu místico de black-n-roll, mientras Maria Franz (Heilung) flota sobre la melancólica balada «No Remedy» con su voz etérea. Los favoritos de Eurovisión Lord of the Lost añaden glam sangriento en «Out of Breath», y Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy) reina en «Ruling Queen», pasando de la voz limpia a un rugido leonino. El tema titular, grabado con la participación de Julien Truchan (Benighted) y titanes franceses del metal, suena como un grito de batalla: «¡Es hora de tomar posición!»
